liveGHP began his musical journey learning to play by ear on his aunt’s piano and singing with the church choir in his hometown of Gary, Indiana, USA. At age 12, he began formal musical training as a saxophonist in the school marching band and jazz stage band. By age 17, gaining numerous awards, liveGHP was the state’s leading high school sax soloist. liveGHP also began singing/playing with “Soul Express”, a popular semi-professional band that toured the Midwest region of the U.S. The group gigged routinely and opened for professional acts that came to the area. It was during this period when liveGHP began writing original songs.
Passing on a scholarship to attend Juilliard School of Music, liveGHP accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. The school offered no curriculum for music. Yet liveGHP remained active in music touring with the men’s glee club and Protestant choir, also playing bass with the Academy’s top-40 stage band.
At graduation, liveGHP was commissioned an officer in the U.S Marine Corps. With little time for performing, liveGHP established a modest home studio and began to hone his skills as a songwriter and music producer. Occasionally performing solo gigs, much of liveGHP’s available time was directed towards home recording and creating tracks for other artists. Now refocused on his own music, liveGHP is releasing his recording projects to fans online in addition to producing for other artists.
